Life is not like stories penned out onto paper. A beginning, a middle and an end. People forget that there are dreams, wishes and desires along the way. However, sometimes what we wish and yearn for is not what we truly need. In the film “Into The Woods (2014)” All the main characters yearn for something that they feel will make their lives better. ✨ The Baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) dream of having a child to call their own. Cinderella (Anna Kendrick) wishes only to attend The King’s Festival and The Ball. The witch (Meryl Streep) only wants ingredients to be gathered in order to brew a potion that will return her beauty that was stolen away. However, throughout the film. the main characters come to realise that sometimes having your wishes come true doesn’t mean a happy ending. ✨ Upon the birth of his son, The Baker fears that he will turn out to be a bad role model like his father was to him, things only become worse when his wife tragically dies when accidentaly falling from a cliff. ✨ Cinderella discovers that royal life is not what she imagined and is informed by her friends the birds that her “Charming” prince is not faithful as he seduced the baker’s wife earlier. ✨ The Witch regains her youth and beauty but has lost the trust and love of her adopted daughter, Rapunzel due to the fact that the witch was jealous of the idea that her daughter’s prince would take Rapunzel away from her and so deliberately sent him flying into a bush of briar thorns that blinds him so that he won’t Be able to look upon Rapunzel again (luckily Rapumzel’s tears of heartbreak later restore the prince’s sight) ✨
A good quote I like to remember from this film is: “My father’s house was a nightmare. Your house a dream....... Now I want something, Inbetween” ~ Cinderella ✨
